Light is the core of watercolor, but making a sunset shine or a candle glow can feel elusive. This course is a relaxed but focused study designed to guide you through this challenge. If you enjoy painting and have a little experience (beginner to intermediate level is welcome), this course is designed for you.
Week 1: A Golden Sunset. How to manage wet washes, create soft atmospheric glow, and handle those beautiful wet-into-wet transitions.
Week 2: A Warm Candle Still Life. Creating focused local light, painting the shadow that defines the light, and controlling soft, subtle edges.
Week 3: Evening Street Light. Mastering rich dark values, creating contrast, and isolating the light source so it really pops.
Week 4: A Campfire or Bonfire. Handling warm, intense color and generating texture and the feeling of heat in the painting.
